Course Details

The Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth) (PPSA) is one of the most significant pieces of legislative reform for the Australian financial sector.  The PPSA has introduced  new approach to securities is now in force across all Australian jurisdictions.

While the reforms have their greatest impact on financiers, the changes also impact on most businesses within Australia. It is vital for all practitioners to familiarise themselves with the PPS regime, due to its broad reaching scope and the complexity of the provisions in the PPSA.

The Masterclass is designed to provide practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of the new PPS regime.  It covers essential areas including:

  • Overview of the key features of the new PPS regime;
  • Discussion of new terms and concepts, such as attachment and perfection;
  • The priority rules which apply to all interests in personal property;
  • How priority disputes are to be resolved where there are more than one security interest over the same property;
