Michael Miller

Principal Wealth Market Northbourne

Michael Miller is a Certified Financial Planner and Principal of Wealth Market Northbourne. His practice provides financial planning advice to legal professionals for their own finances, and expert reports for litigation and dispute resolution in family law, elder law, and estate disputes.

Michael has developed an expertise in providing financial planning reports for litigation and dispute resolution in the fields of family law, elder law, and estate disputes. This involves:

  • quantifying the financial needs of parties to a dispute
  • demonstrating the financial outcomes of a party of potential settlements or litigation judgments
  • incorporating the impact of social security benefits, and funding for residential aged care on outcomes of disputes

Michael is a sessional lecturer and tutor in financial planning & economics topics at the Australian National University and University of Canberra. He authored Personal Financial Services Essentials for Lawyers published by LexisNexis in 2017, and is regularly quoted in the press and professional trade journals in relation to financial planning topics.

Michael holds a Graduate Diploma of Applied Tax Law from The Tax Institute, Master of Business from Charles Sturt University, Bachelor of Commerce from University of Canberra and has completed mediation studies at Bond University’s Dispute Resolution Centre.

His interest in the combination of people and money can be credited to his family. Michael’s Nan provided a rather uneven $72.58 cheque as a 21st birthday present. The reason for the odd amount was that Nan had been indexing her presents to the Consumer Price Index across all of the grandchildren to ensure fairness.
