The five disciplines are explored through the experiences of Tim, a manager who consistently fails to run effective meetings. Tim has a dream that he is before a judge, charged with failing organise and chair meetings effectively. The judge demonstrates how the rules for running meetings parallel those of a court, and explains the chaos that would result if he ran his court in the same way that Tim runs his meetings.
