What’s on during Law Week 2019

Monday the 13th May marks the start of Law Week 2019 - a week dedicated to raising awareness about legal services in the community. Across Australia, local law societies will host a series of events including court open days, free legal advice clinics, information sessions and fundraisers.

Law Week in Victoria
Victoria has the widest range of community events running out of all the states participating in Law Week. The Victoria Law Foundation has organised a packed program to help Victorians “find answers to their legal questions, discover the history of the courts or simply enjoy the spectacle of the law”. This year’s theme is “Unlock your Law” and you can follow the conversation online using the #LawWeek hashtag.
Law Week in WA
This year, the Law Society of WA will be highlighting how lawyers are making a difference in their community. The start of Law Week will coincide with the launch of a new campaign ‘Lawyers Make a Difference’. You can follow the conversation online with the hashtag #LawyersMakeaDifference.
Law Week in Queensland
The Queensland Department of Justice has announced a number of events and activities that will take place during Law Week, including the LawRight Queensland Legal Walk. You can follow @JusticeQLD to follow updates on social media.
Law Week in the ACT
This year, the ACT Law Society has chosen the theme “Lawyers: Protecting Your Rights”. Each year the Law Society nominates a Canberra charity for which they will fundraise during the week. This year, ACT Law Week will be supporting Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS) ACT.
Law Week in New South Wales
The NSW State Library will be running a series of events to engage the community and raise awareness about legal services during Law Week this year.
Law Week in the NT
The Law Society NT has organised a series of events, including workshops, trivia nights and networking lunch and dinners.
